I’m a baker and a ‘crazy’ bride tried to order an $850 wedding cake for only $50

A BAKER shared a shockingly low request from a bride for her wedding.

They revealed that the ‘delusional’ bride tried to order an $850 cake for just $50.

Redditor RainbowSprinkles4 shared the wedding story in a post.

They explained that they initially wanted to bake a cake for her wedding.

“I was very happy when I got a request on my home bakery’s Instagram account to make a wedding cake,” they said.

“The lady gave me her phone number to discuss the details, so I called her.

“She let me know right away that she didn’t want to waste her time and that I should let her know immediately if I wasn’t serious.

“She told me her wedding was in December and she just wanted all the details taken care of and done. I told her I wasn’t in the business of documenting big projects without some details, so I asked what she was considering.”

Her demands included three tiers of cake “on a glittery acrylic stand.”

“She wanted fresh flowers (white roses and gypsophila) in a cascade around the cakes, using the quilting technique as a base.

“OR if I could use a mix of fresh flowers and sugar flowers that would be fine too.”

They added that her demands became increasingly detailed, requiring more work.

“But she could tell if the sugar flowers were store-bought, so I had to make them myself,” they said.

“She wanted the bottom layer to be chocolate colored, the middle layer carrot colored, and the top layer strawberry colored.

“She also wanted one of those little toy dogs that you hide in the back and have a little piece taken out of it so it looks like it’s bitten into the cake.

“This dog would have to be an Australian Shepherd because that’s what she and her fiancé own. And if I couldn’t find an Australian Shepherd action figure or toy, I would have to make him out of fondant.”

I told her I would have to do some math and get a quote, but I think she could count on $850-900 at a minimum.

The icing on the cake, they added, came when she asked about the price of the food.

“She asked me how much I would charge for a cake like that,” they said.

“She tells me she’s local and she’s heard really good things about it. She’s seen my ads on Instagram and they want this to be a big party.

“I told her I would need to do some math and get a quote, but I think she could count on $850-900 minimum (which I know was low, but I needed some time to do some resources and math).”

“She told me she wanted it for 50.”

After hearing the song, the baker decided to give her the benefit of the doubt at first.

“I braced myself and decided to play dumb. I said, ‘That’s a lot of cake for 50 people.’ The rest of the conversation went like this:

“She: ‘No, fifty DOLLARS.’ Me: ‘Do you want to spend $50 on ingredients?’

“Them: ‘NO. For the CAKE. The whole CAKE.’ Me: ‘$50 doesn’t buy you FLOWERS for a cake this size.’

“She: ‘Well, that’s our budget, take it or leave it!’ Me: ‘Okay, I’ll leave it.’ She: ‘Oh, that’s just great. Really professional. Are you new to this?’

After calling the bride “delusional,” she accused the baker of becoming “bitter.”

“I’m going somewhere else,” she said.

“Good luck, $50 won’t get you three EASY pies at WALMART,” the baker replied.

Viewers were shocked by the unpleasant interaction, with many joking that the bride should just pick up her bread.

“Let’s all wish her the best on her journey through the reality of wedding cake prices. It won’t end well for her,” said one commenter.

“$50? Hahahaha go to Costco for cupcakes you cheapskate,” said another.
