2 men drown in Cavite after drinking binge

LUCENA CITY — Two picnickers drowned on Sunday, July 21, after they were swept away by large waves while swimming in the waters off Tanza City in Cavite province.

Region 4A police reported on Monday that Danilo Barquio, 50; Henry Barquio, 55; and Jemboy Perez, 25, went swimming after a drinking bout at a beach resort in Barangay Capipisa around 9:30 a.m.

While swimming, the three, all residents of the town of Muntinlupa, were swept away by the strong current and dragged to the deeper part of the sea.

They were rescued and taken to hospital.

Danilo and Henry were pronounced dead on arrival.

Perez remained in custody for further treatment.
