Rajamouli says he is just a slave to his story in the trailer of ‘Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli’

MUMBAI: The trailer for the upcoming documentary ‘Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli’ was unveiled on Monday.

In the film, members of the Indian film industry praise Rajamouli but also criticize his work obsession.

The trailer opens with Rajamouli saying, “I want to tell an incredible story. I want people to get involved in the film.”

Then it cuts to his ‘RRR’ actor, Jr NTR, who tells the camera, “This person was born to make films. He was born to tell stories that haven’t been told yet.”

‘Baahubali’ actor Prabhas then says that he has never met anyone like Rajamouli and describes him as “a crazy person, that’s all”, emphasising his creative genius.

Canadian filmmaker James Cameron makes a surprise appearance in the trailer and says Rajamouli has earned the respect to do anything and work with anyone.

Another ‘RRR’ star, Ram Charan, says he is sometimes shocked when he watches Rajamouli’s films from the third person and sees himself working in them.

When asked about the downsides of working with Rajamouli, his collaborators open up about his obsession with storytelling and creating massive action films.

Ram Charan says he saw microphones breaking on set because Rajamouli was so engrossed in the creative process.

Jr NTR adds that sometimes it feels like Rajamouli has no empathy. He calls him a madman and says there is no point in arguing with the author.

The trailer ends with Rajamouli saying that the only thing he is a slave to is the story he tells.

‘Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli’, produced by Applause Entertainment and Film Companion Studios, premieres on Netflix on August 2.
