Hera Pheri To Golmaal, 5 Best Comedy Movies On Amazon Prime Video

Laughter is the best medicine and when you combine it with evergreen Bollywood elements, you get a timeless classic. The comedy genre is certainly not an easy one, but over the years and decades, Bollywood has produced comedies that have stood the test of time and still entertain. Here are some of the best movies to watch on Amazon Prime Video this week.

Choop Choop

A touch of the past with an exceptional Dharmendra in a rare comic role, Chupke Chupke (1975) sees the veteran actor in a dual role as he tries to impress his stiff father-in-law in a witty ‘comedy of errors’. Directed by esteemed filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee, this classic also features Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bachchan, Om Prakash, Asrani, Usha Kiran, David Abraham Cheulkar and Keshto Mukherjee.

Hera-Pheri

Arguably the best Bollywood comedy of all time, the 2000 film Hera Pheri established Akshay Kumar’s dominance over the genre while also marking the career-best performances of Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty. Whether it’s Babu Bhaiya’s quotable dialogues or the accurate portrayal of lower-middle-class families, comedy legend Priyadarshan – also starring Tabu, Om Puri and Gulshan Grover – has achieved deserved cult status.

Golmaal

When a film is so funny that it spawns a comedy universe with three more sequels (all available on APV!) and a fifth in the works, it deserves to be on our list of the best Bollywood comedies of all time. The 2006 film Golmaal revolves around the chaotic lives of four best friends played by Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Sharman Joshi. The Rohit Shetty adaptation remains a fan favorite.

Bawari

Bawarchi is one of the most popular movies of Rajesh Khanna. The story of this 1972 comedy was well received by the audience. The movie has a rating of 8.1 on IMDb. You can watch this amazing movie on Amazon Prime Video.
