Thunder Bay resident charged after dangerous truck incident near Atikokan

ATIKOKAN, ON – A public complaint about a dangerously driven truck has resulted in multiple charges for a Thunder Bay resident.

On June 21, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a logging truck and trailer (TTU) driving erratically on Highway 11 near the Rainy River District border with Thunder Bay. The truck forced another vehicle onto the shoulder and was repeatedly seen crossing the center line into the oncoming lane.

The Atikokan OPP, with video evidence of the incident, launched an investigation, supported by the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Branch of the Department of Transportation and the Inland Immigration Enforcement Branch of the Canada Border Services Agency.

Ajaypal Singh, 24, of Thunder Bay, faces several charges under the Highway Traffic Act:

  • Carefree driving
  • Falsifying a registration or document (OReg 556/06)
  • Driving a commercial vehicle without inspection

Singh is summoned to appear in the Atikokan Ontario Court of Justice on September 20, 2024, to answer to these charges.
