IMD issues red alert for Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat; orange alert for heavy rainfall in these states

Central and western India is likely to witness heavy rainfall till July 29. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall expected in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat on July 28. An orange alert has also been issued for Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

The forecast is for extremely heavy rainfall in Gujarat on July 28. Very heavy rainfall has been forecast for Madhya Pradesh on July 31, Goa and Maharashtra on July 28 and Gujarat on July 28 and 29.

The weather office has warned of very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Kerala & Mahe and coastal Karnataka on July 28, while heavy rainfall will be expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karnataka till July 30 and in Kerala on July 29 and 30.

As per the forecast, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Nagaland and Manipur on July 29 and 30. Also, heavy rainfall is predicted in Sikkim till July 29, while West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand will see heavy rainfall between July 30 and 31.

Torrential rain has also been forecast in Odisha until July 31, in Arunachal Pradesh on July 28 and 29, in Assam and Meghalaya until July 31 and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on July 28 and 31.

The forecast also says that very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Uttarakhand on July 30 and 31 and in East Rajasthan on July 28. It further mentions the possibility of heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi till July 31. In Jammu-Kashmir and Punjab, downpours are expected in the region on July 30 and 31.

The weather office has predicted heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on July 28 and 29, in Rajasthan till July 31 and in Uttar Pradesh on July 30 and 31.

For Himachal, the weather department has predicted light to moderate rainfall with thundershower and lightning at isolated spots in a few districts including Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, Solan and Shimla. Besides, the IMD has hinted at the possibility of light rainfall in Sirmaur, Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts.
