Determined student overcomes obstacles to compete in Literacy Challenge Top 51 – Citinewsroom – In-depth news in Ghana

Yaa Achiaa Osei Boamah, one of the participants in this year’s Citi FM/Channel One TV Literacy Challenge 2024, overcame significant challenges to make it to the second phase of the competition.

The top 50 candidates for the 2024 edition of the Citi FM/Channel One TV ‘Literacy Challenge for Junior High School Students’ were required to undergo an aptitude test on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Accra Digital Centre.

The top 50 candidates were announced during the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM on Thursday 26 July.

Yaa, whose parents had initially indicated that she could not travel from Bolgatanga to Accra for the aptitude test, had to convince her parents to let her fly to Accra.

The first report of her absence forced Citi FM/Channel One TV to call in the second best student.

Following Yaa’s determination to continue, Citi FM/Channel One TV management decided to keep both stations in the competition, bringing the total to 51.

“It wasn’t difficult, I just came and went to my uncle’s house. We had a funeral in Cape Coast, and there was no one in the house. I forced my father to let me come. I am very well prepared,” Yaa said.

Citi FM/Channel One TV’s Literacy Challenge kicked off on May 16, 2024, offering a reward of GH¢10,000 and a trophy to the most outstanding student.
