Saoirse Ronan is taking on a new role… of wife! The four-time Oscar-nominated actress married her Mary Queen of Scots colleague Jack Lowden in a private ceremony over the weekend.

The 30-year-old secretly married her long-time love, 34, in his native Scotland, The Sunday Independent reports.

The couple’s wedding in Edinburgh was attended by a few close friends, and all guests were sworn to secrecy to avoid being spotted by the paparazzi.

The Register of Scottish Civil Marriages shows that Saoirse Una Ronan married Jack Andrew Lowden at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office.

The couple met six years ago and their romance began on the set of Mary Queen of Scots, in 2018. Saoirse played the title role and Lowden played Darnley, Mary’s second husband.

The secret wedding comes as no surprise, as the couple has been very secretive about their love life ever since they started dating.

Many fans speculated that the couple were engaged after Dunkirk actor Lowden posted a suspicious photo last July while the pair were hiking on the summit of Ben Vrackie in Perthshire, Scotland.

The photo showed a hand, which fans believed was Saoirse’s, with a diamond ring on it.

The Carlow woman lives in Islington, North London, with her current husband Jack, and together they have a terrier called Fran.

There are currently no public photos available from the couple’s special day.
