Loksatta Party President and former bureaucrat Dr Jaiprakash Narayan stressed the importance of administrative officers in strengthening democracy. He stressed that human services are crucial for national progress and highlighted the important work required in administrative services for the upliftment of rural areas. He also underlined the need to provide quality education to the new generation.

Dr. Narayan was speaking as the Guest of Honour at the 14th National Felicitation Ceremony for the Rank Members of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2023. The event was organised by MIT World Peace University and MIT School of Government, Pune, at the Sant Dnyaneshwar Auditorium of MIT WPU, Kothrud.

Former UPSC Chairman DP Agarwal was present as the guest of honour. MIT World Peace University Founder and President Prof Dr Vishwanath Karad also participated.

Present on the occasion were MIT World Peace University Working Chairman Rahul Vishwanath Karad, Vice Chancellor Dr. RM Chitnis, Dr. K Girisan and Prof. Parimal Maya Sudhakar.

During the ceremony, Animesh Pradhan, who secured the second position in the country, was awarded a cash prize of ₹75,000. In addition, 160 achievers were felicitated with shawls and tributes by the dignitaries.

Dr. Narayan said, “Public service is a special service and should be for the development of the society and the country. Believe in hard work while working in administrative services. It is necessary to work with a positive attitude and devote more time to public service. We should give priority to humanity and work for the welfare of people.”

DP Agarwal said, “Never forget your intention to join civil services. Every service has huge challenges. We are making a difference in people’s lives. Stay in this field and face the challenges. Set the right goals and policies and implement them for the progress of the society and the country. If we work honestly and transparently, the country will develop.”

Prof Dr Vishwanath Karad said, “Do administrative work with the message of humanity and tolerance in mind. The task of showing the way to world peace lies on our shoulders.”

Dr. R. M. Chitnis gave the introductory and welcome address. Prof. Dr. Gautam Bapat moderated the event and Dr. K. Girisan proposed the vote of thanks.
