Robust measures being taken to improve economy: Aurangzeb

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that drastic measures are being taken to improve the country’s economy.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad today, he said that reforms are being carried out in the FBR and weekly meetings are being held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said that it is the top priority of the government to reduce the burden on the lower income class.

He thanked the Chief Ministers of all four provinces for their support for the government’s tax reforms and expressed hope that they will introduce tax legislation to include the agricultural sector in the tax system.

He said that unless we include the non-taxed and taxed community in the tax system, we cannot achieve certainty and ease in tax collection, which is essential for economic stability.

Regarding relief efforts to the corporate sector, Muhammad Aurangzeb said that Rs 68 billion in claims have been reimbursed so far.
