JD Vance’s Secret Service Code Name Revealed, Netizens Say: ‘How Ironic That Is…’

J.D. Vance, the recently announced running mate for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, has been given a Secret Service code name. It comes amid criticism the federal law enforcement agency is facing following an attempted assassination of the former president at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Presidents, vice presidents, first ladies and other prominent individuals under the protection of the Secret Service are given code names. The names are usually ceremonial and intended to facilitate communication in urgent, stressful situations.

The Washington Post quoted a Secret Service spokesman as saying that code names are determined by “pure whim.” However, the names are somehow tied to the person’s background or personal history.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Vance’s close friend revealed that Trump’s vice presidential candidate’s code name is “Bobcat.” Ohio University and Breathitt County High School, located in Jackson, Kentucky, are referred to as “Bobcats.”

Responding to Vance’s codename, an X user wrote: “MOGUL-BOBCAT 2024.”

“Why would they share a code name with the public?” another commented.

“How ironic that it’s BobCAT,” a third user commented, while the fourth said, “Bobcat is a cool name.”

“There’s so much insider Ohio involved in this,” someone else wrote.
