Manu Bhaker wins India’s first medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. With the bronze medal, Bhaker also ended India’s shooting drought in the previous two Olympics.

When she reached the final, she became the first Indian female shooter in two decades to reach an Olympic final in an individual event, the previous example being Suma Shirur’s performance in the 10m Air Rifle event at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

She also created history by becoming the first Indian woman to reach the finals of the 10m air pistol event at the Olympics.

Despite a pistol malfunction during the qualifications for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games that brought tears to her eyes, she showed the level of performance in the qualifying round that can be expected from an athlete who has already won numerous international medals.
