Marvel Studios last held a Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022; when Avengers: The Kang Dynasty And Avengers: Secret Wars were both announced for release in 2025.

A lot has changed since then, including the focus of the Multiverse Saga! Kang is out and Doctor Doom is in, with Robert Downey Jr. making his MCU return as Victor Von Doom. How this ties into his time as Iron Man, if anything, remains to be seen.

After the Russo Brothers were announced as the directors of Avengers: Doomsday And Avengers: Secret Warsthe filmmakers pointed out that Doctor Doom is one of the most complex characters in the Marvel Universe, and that it would take a truly great actor to bring him to life.

As Feige and the Russos prepared to close the presentation, robed figures with Doctor Doom masks entered the stage, then parted to reveal Robert Downey Jr.

Feige, the Russos, and Downey did not participate in any interviews following the panel, but the latter has broken his silence on playing the iconic Fantastic Four villain. The actor shared a photo of himself holding Doom’s mask on Instagram, captioning his post: “New mask, same job.”

What does that mean? Well, if you know Doom, chances are he sees himself as a hero and the only one capable of saving the Multiverse!

Russo’s company AGBO will produce both films in conjunction with Marvel Studios. Stephen McFeely, known for his work on the Captain America trilogy and Avengers: Endgamewill handle the script.

“Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a lifelong dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in every film we made,” the Russos said in a press release. “We’re thrilled to once again partner with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to take this epic storytelling adventure to new and surprising places for both the fans and us.”
