The abduction of a woman at a bus stop on the Gold Coast has prompted a major police operation.

Witnesses saw a woman being forced into a van on Highfield Drive in Merrimac at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Several police units, including Polair, searched for the pickup truck that was found abandoned in a Bunnings car park in Burleigh.

The woman managed to escape and sought help at McDonald’s, while two men fled the scene, the Goal Coast Bulletin reported.

The incident took place near All Saints Anglican School.

One parent wrote on X that the school was closed.

“I have just had to close my child’s school due to the manhunt in Burleigh Waters,” the mother wrote.

The woman is reportedly unharmed and recovering from her ordeal.
