Winter Haven Police Searching for Man Who Fatally Stabbed Woman Late Friday Night

A 26-year-old woman was fatally stabbed during an altercation with a man in northwest Winter Haven Friday night. Winter Haven police are asking the public for help with information.

Police said in a news release Sunday morning that just before midnight Friday, they received a report of a stabbing at a construction site behind the old motel in Banyon Beach at 4:30 p.m. U.S. 17 N.

According to a witness who was with the victim, the woman was in an argument with an unknown man some distance away from the witness. The witness told police that they saw the man hit the woman multiple times. The woman screamed that she had been stabbed and the man fled south.

The witness ran to find someone to call 911, police said, and officers arrived within three minutes. They began rescuing the woman until paramedics arrived. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Police did not immediately identify the victim.
