Artistic gymnastics has been a fixture of the Olympic Games since the first modern Games in 1896. Today, it is one of the most anticipated events of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The artistic gymnastics competition in Paris starts on Saturday and ends on August 5. Between the men’s and women’s competitions, there will be 14 medal events, including individual apparatus finals, all-around finals and team finals. The top 24 gymnasts in the all-around and the top eight in each apparatus, with a maximum of two gymnasts per country, will qualify for each final.

Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, is the clear favorite to win the women’s all-around—she hasn’t lost a single event since 2013—as well as the floor, vault and beam events. The 27-year-old Team USA superstar will be joined by an all-star lineup of familiar faces: reigning Olympic all-around champion Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey, all of whom won Olympic medals in Tokyo. The experienced quartet is also bolstered by 16-year-old Hezly Rivera, the 2023 U.S. junior champion. In the absence of a Russian team, team gold is Team USA’s to lose.

Team USA will send five men to Paris: Brody Malone, Fred Richard, Asher Hong, Paul Juda and Stephen Nedoroscik. The team will look to end a 16-year Olympic medal drought in the team final, with Malone and Richard being Team USA’s top individual medal contenders.
