Seraikela, July 28: Two minor girls, Kuni Banra (13) and Rukmini Samrad (12), died of electrocution after they came into contact with a live wire while playing in Gutusai Tola under Kharsawan police station on Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred when the girls, who were playing near an electricity pole in Amda OP area of ​​Seraikela Kharsawan, accidentally touched a live wire. They were immediately rushed to Kharsawan CHC by locals. After being given first aid, they were shifted to Sadar Hospital of Seraikela, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Kuni Banra was the third of seven siblings while Rukmini Samrad was the third of five siblings. The police were informed about the incident and Amda OP officials reached Sadar Hospital to record statements of the family members.

MLA representative Anoop Singhdev also visited the hospital and assured the families that they would be compensated as per the rules. Kuni Banra was a resident of Gutusai village while Rukmini Samrad, originally from Kolabira, was visiting her ancestral home in Gutusai village at the time of the accident.
