The US presidential election is 100 days away, and the question now is: How can we guarantee the safety of the candidates? Two weeks after escaping an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump has announced that he plans to hold outdoor rallies again, defying the advice of the Secret Service, the agency responsible for his security.

“I will continue to hold outdoor meetings and the Secret Service has agreed to a significant expansion of its activities,” Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social network on Saturday, July 27. The former president and Republican candidate gave no further details. The same silence from the Secret Service, responsible for protecting presidents, vice presidents and even presidential candidates.

This federal agency seriously fears the risk of copycats and a new shooter. It therefore advises Donald Trump to organize his rallies indoors to filter the entrances and check for the absence of firearms. This is what Donald Trump has been doing since July 13, again last Saturday in Minnesota, but also Wednesday, July 31 in Pennsylvania for his next rally.

But the ex-president is definitely stubborn. Giving in to this pressure doesn’t help his communication and he concludes on Truth Social: “No one shall hinder or obstruct freedom of expression or assembly.”
