Josh Hartnett compares his upcoming horror film to the ongoing Taylor Swift Eras Tour.

The 46-year-old Hollywood star plays a character named Cooper ‘The Butcher’ in M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming horror film Trap.

The film follows the character Josh as he attends a concert by a music giant. It is implied that he went there to commit murder, while the authorities are waiting to catch him.

Josh has now explained that he felt the filming process was too over the top, but his attitude has changed since attending Talyor Swift’s final world tour concerts.

The father of four told the Associated Press: “I took (my kids) to the Eras Tour about two weeks ago when they were in London, to see Taylor Swift, and that was the first big event they were interested in.

“What I loved about it is that I sent a photo to Night where I basically said this is life imitating art. Because when we were shooting the film, I thought his characterization of the audience was exaggerated, because I had never been to a pop concert with my kids.”

The faculty actor explained that he was unaware of how much modern audiences are involved in the lives of their contemporary idols.

He said: “(While filming) I thought, these guys are way too into it, people aren’t into concerts. I remember concerts being like, everyone’s too cool to really do anything. Things are now… they’re rabid. Kids are rabid about the artists they like now.”

He added: “So when I went to the Eras Tour, I saw that kind of interaction. Their intense idolization of Taylor Swift and the crying when they saw her and all of that was in line with what Night created here, which I was quite impressed with.”

Josh has been married to St Trinian’s actress Tamsin Egerton since 2021 and they have four children together, although they have kept the names and genders of their children largely secret.
