Gaping hole in Guirim service road requires attention

Citizen Sabina de Souza Siolim

A huge pothole in the middle of the service road at Guirim which is not maintained. The service road is used by motorists and pedestrians and keeps flooding due to the downpour. Sometimes the PWD dumps mud in the area which makes the place slippery as it is washed away by the rain. Time for the government to convert these potholes into eco-friendly swimming pools and encourage monsoon tourism to fill the coffers.

Unsuspecting road users often fall and are often seriously injured. There are countless potholes in the road, which pose a problem for motorists. In the past, it was difficult to see even a small pothole in the road, even though there were no engineers to draw plans for road construction. The fate of our roads today, which look like craters on the moon, only says something about the quality of the engineers hired by the government. Are they used for construction or destruction?

Our politicians sitting in the cozy comfort of their air-conditioned rooms and traveling in luxury vehicles at the taxpayers’ expense are not responsible for human suffering. While many lives have been lost due to bad roads in Goa, there are others lying in hospital beds after road accidents. Will this government act in the public interest and repair the potholes in the state before more tragedies occur?

Let better advice prevail.
