Patriots DT Christian Barmore Diagnosed With Blood Clots – NBC Sports Boston

The New England Patriots provided a disturbing update on the status of defensive tackle Christian Barmore on Sunday.

In a statement, the Patriots revealed that Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots over the weekend and was treated by doctors at Mass General Brigham. You can read the full statement below:

“Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots over the weekend and was treated appropriately by Mass General Brigham physicians who tested, evaluated and treated Christian.

“Our primary concern at this time is Christian’s health and well-being. Fortunately, Mass General Brigham provides some of the best health care in the world.

“While there is no timetable yet for his return, we know Christian is receiving fantastic care and we look forward to his full recovery.”

The Patriots say there is no schedule yet for Barmore’s return, but it’s worth noting that center David Andrews missed the entire 2019 season after being diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs.

Losing Barmore, who turned 25 on Sunday, would be a huge blow to the Patriots defense. The Alabama product recorded 64 tackles (13 for loss) and 8.5 sacks in his third NFL season last year.

The Patriots extended Barmore to a four-year, $92 million contract in April.
