On Sunday evening, July 28, a fuel tanker overturned on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway, approximately 100 meters before the eastern UCC entrance, spilling fuel onto the highway.

It is not yet clear what caused the truck cab to end up on its side.

The leak made that part of the route slippery, posing a danger to pedestrians and motorists.

Some people risked their lives by collecting the spilled fuel with gallons of fuel.

Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service were on standby to prevent any disaster.

The police diverted traffic to prevent further accidents.
