Pune: The Pune Rural police are searching for three men who disrobed a woman and took her photos after robbing her of jewelery worth Rs1 lakh near Rui village, about 105km from Pune in Baramati tehsil, on July 24.The woman, who works as a domestic help, later contacted the Baramati taluka police and lodged a complaint.A case was registered under sections 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 78 (stalking), 74 (outraging modesty), and 305 ( robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).A Pune Rural police officer told TOI that the woman was walking near her village in the evening when she saw a person talking on his cellphone.“When she walked into a nearby sugar cane field to answered nature’s call, the man followed her. He threatened her with a knife and told her to remove her gold chain,” he said.While the woman was removing her chain, two more men came to the spot. “They robbed her of her gold chain, a pair of earrings, and a ring, all collectively worth Rs1 lakh,” the officer said.The trio then told the woman to remove her clothes. “When she refused to obey, the men tore her top and removed her lehenga. One of them clicked her photograph using his cellphone. She has given us the description of the trio. We hope to arrest them soon,” he said.
