Ben Affleck’s friend confirms actor ‘going through something’ – Film News | Film-News.co.uk

Ben Affleck’s friend Kevin Smith has spoken candidly about his pal, admitting that he’s “going through something.”

Film producer Kevin hinted at Ben’s marital problems with Jennifer Lopez at San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

“It’s clear he’s been through something, or at least that’s what’s been said in the press and stuff,” he told the audience.

He said his wife had suggested he talk to Ben to see how he was doing, but he decided to wait.

“Me, his least trusted friend who’s very loose-lipped … my wife was like, ‘Oh, you need to reach out to him,'” he explained. “I was like, ‘The last person he wants to hear from right now is the guy who’s on the chat a lot.’ So when he’s in a good place, he lets me know.”

The duo worked together on Chasing Amy, Dogma and Clerks II, and Kevin also directed Jersey Girl, starring Jennifer Lopez.

He is expected to begin filming the next instalment of Jay and Silent Bob later this year and has already hinted that Ben, 51, may be involved in the project.

“I will contact him,” the 53-year-old said. “Maybe he will even come to play, but I haven’t been anywhere near that situation yet.”

Kevin attended Ben and Jennifer’s 2022 wedding in Georgia and spoke afterwards about how emotional the ceremony was.

“I’m a cryer,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “But I cried the whole (wedding) because it was so damn beautiful. So beautiful. He wrote his vows — they (both) wrote their vows, but he wrote a big speech that he read to her at the wedding, which was breathtaking.”
