DDS: Online driver services offer a convenient way to save time this summer

If you survived the summer vacation but your driver’s license didn’t, remember this tip from the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS). Most customers can replace a lost driver’s license or ID by using DDS Online Services at www.dds.georgia.gov and most of them also qualify for a five dollar discount.

DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore says that in most cases, there is no need to come in person. “Customers can replace a lost license and legally drive on the ticket until the replacement license arrives in the mail. Permanent cards are also mailed to those who choose to come in person, so using DDS Online Services is the logical choice for driver’s licenses.”

Most Georgia citizens between the ages of 18 and 63 with a valid driver’s license or state ID are eligible for online services, including:

• Renew or replace a lost license

• Replacing a license after reinstallation

• Change an address

• Upgrade from a class D to C

• View/Print a temporary (interim) driving licence while you wait for the permanent card to be delivered

• Upload a CDL medical certification

• Upload a Vision Report Form for clients 64 years and older

• Subscribe/unsubscribe to electronic notifications

• Receive a 2-year driving history for free

• Purchase a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for 3 or 7 years

• Check for points on a driving license

• Pay costs

• Validate your license status

• Submit your request before visiting a customer service center
