Senate committee votes to keep IRS funds stable, but rejects House cuts

Senate representatives have passed legislation to keep funding for the IRS stable, proposing billions more for the agency than the version of the House Republicans’ Financial Services and General Government bill in the Senate.

The Senate Budget Committee voted unanimously in a bipartisan 27-0 vote to provide $12.3 billion for the agency in fiscal year 2025, aimed at helping improve customer service and modernize technology while expanding its enforcement capabilities, according to a legislative summary released Thursday.
